1. ATO Review of Effective Life of Packaging Printing Assets
The ATO has released a proposed schedule of depreciation rates for packaging printing assets for industry comment. The ATO is seeking comments by 31 March 2006. If you would like to convey your comments to us, you should do so by 29 March. 2. Graphic Arts Award
Members should have received notification today about the new 8 level wage structure in the Graphic Arts Award. The appeal by Printing Industries was rejected by the Full Bench of the Australian Industrial Relations Commission this week. 3. Young Printing Industry Stars
We are seeking nominations of young people to be profiled in career information that is being developed for the industry. Please consider nominating your young staff (up to 30 years old) to be profiled for this initiative. Without your input we cannot move this initiative along. Other industries are out there with fantastic profiles of their young employees – and if we want to attract more smart talent to our industry we have to be part of it. We can email you the template. Rob Gullan would be very pleased to hear from you / if you have someone / know someone suitable.
4. Get Connected Moves to Sri Lanka
The Get Connected Conference, scheduled for Sydney in mid 2006 has been transferred to Colombo, Sri Lanka. It will be the focal point of its printing industry Golden Jubilee celebrations which will include print awards and an international trade exhibition. To read more about this, go to Printnet
