2.         Ch Ch Ch Changes……

Firm in the belief that all organizations must continually change and adapt to grow, Printing Industries can confirm a couple of major moves over the next week.

We are moving our offices next Friday, 14 July.  The new address is Unit 3, 5-7 Compark Circuit, Mulgrave – just off Wellington Road, between Blackburn and Springvale Roads.  Almost “Print Central”, the new location is at the geographic heart of the Print industry of Melbourne.  Near the freeways, the new offices include improved training facilities, and we believe a modern efficient office space appropriate to showcase the industry.  You will receive formal advice on details next week.  The current phone and fax numbers will operate for the next several months at least.

3          Printing Industries Workplace Agreement Workshops

Printing Industries and the Office of the Employment Advocate completed a national round of Workplace Agreement Workshops for members in June with presentations in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Canberra.  Further national Workshops will be completed in July/August.   Note the Launceston workshop date has changed.   The briefing will now be held on 1 August between 8.30 and 10.30 am.   For further details and a list of the National Workplace Agreement Workshops go to Printnet.

4.         GAMAA Leadership Education Programme

A workshop will be held in Sydney from 31 August to 2 September.  The topic is "Creative Leadership and Intelligence" and will utilise Dr Ian Metcalfe, a leading thinker in these areas. GAMAA is looking forward to another successful workshop with our scholarship recipients and others within the print industry.  If you are interested in receiving a flyer about this programme, please contact Michelle Eeles or email enquire@gamaa.net.au.   For enquiries phone 02 9869 0010.

5.         Review of Disclosures Section of Franchising Code

Minister for Small Business and Tourism, the Hon Fran Bailey MP, has announced a review of the disclosures section of the Code.  The mandatory Franchising Code of Conduct was introduced in 1998 to improve fair trading in the franchising sector.  The Code is supported by the Office of the Mediation Adviser to ensure speedy resolution of disputes.  The disclosures section includes information requirements that franchisors must disclose to prospective franchisees, before deciding to purchase a franchise.  The review will consider all available evidence and make any necessary recommendations to improve the Code.  Submissions should be made by August 15 and can be sent to Review of Franchising Code, c/o Office of Small Business, GPO Box 9839 Canberra, ACT 2601.
